XP Start Menu Items are missing

Hello,

To try and be ultra fair I have just completed an install of Nero 8 update version 8.1.1.4 onto a bare system....a clean install of XP

The menu items that should appear under the START button...they are all missing...no big deal, I know how to create them...what about those who do not?

When is Nero going to fix their software?

Shambolic ?

Hanging Screen Menus in Nero Vision 5 8.1.1.4 Update are broken

Hello fellow sufferers,

I have only tested one of the menus so far, the one mentioned above.

It definately worked before the latest update...I used it...but its broken now !!!

You can't select any of the menu items

I'm not going to bother requesting help from Tech Support....the guy they employ to rive around in here patting the MVP's on the back can do what he states he does for the MVP's...send in some feedback

What a shambles

RSS in Nero

What the heck are these guys playing at....they want us to watch the Weather Channel and get RSS feeds all from inside a massive resource heavy program which runs CPU time critical devices and has absolutely ZERO to do with either subject !!! Are they crazy ?

Its about time Nero got its act together and decided whether they want to be an Internet vendor of Multi Media, or more properly do what they used to be good at....the creation of software for burning Disks.

As far as there employees are concerned, they should worry about whether this kind of aimless wandering by their employer is going to eventually leave them looking for the situations vacant.....

In the meantime we are all still waiting for a stable version of several of the products inside Nero 8......

Weather Channel and RSS feeds.......some idiot will be telling us how to get Nero to boil the kettle next Phew.............

But guess what, they are Highly sexist, why is it important enough to waste our bandwidth asking what sex we are....what business is it of theirs I wonder...or is it another attempt at diverting our attention away from the basic fact that most people asking for help don't get any.

Vision 5 closes down all on its own

Hmmmmm,

Have you ever at the last moment changed the encoding level from 2-pass to 1-pass ? If you have I guess you will know about this one, at least there is a good chance you will.

Just after my last post and having tried three times to get a project to compile, I decided to try it at the lower quality level...see if I could get away with it so to speak.... WRONG

I have made 8 tests of this....5 of those tests resulted in Vision 5 simply exiting, closing down, doing a bunk, no longer running, the moment I select 1-pass from the options....................what the heck is going on???

The people at Nero clearly have a very low regard for the paying customers.

So, I quickly installed Nero 8 on another machine...made a small project and tried the same test...this time 3 out of 8 times it simply closes down.

P.S......removed 8 from second machine and put 7 back on.

Vision 5 export to Nero Digital fails

Hello,

Getting as bit sick of this.....I have just spent 5 minutes trying to get the a file to play using Nero Showtime....the file was created using Vision 5 and was exported to Nero Digital. I was greatly pleased when I discovered that this time it had actually preserved the screen dimensions and aspect ratio....unfortunately it did little else

Hmmmm.....what I have is a file that is approx 1GB when you play it it seems to start off OK untill you realise that it has included a section of video that was trimmed off the start.....OK, I can trim it again I suppose...why do things once when you can do it the Nero way?

So I moved the slider bar towards the middle of the picture to see what that was like...the video froze but the sound carried on from the new position.

Stop Showtime and restart it...try it again...same result. Move the slider back to near the start and you sometimes get a moving video sometimes a black screen and you get audio...but not sire if its playing the right section.

So, lets assume that there is something wrong with Nero Showtime....load the file into a new Vision 5 project.....and get exactly the same results

Nero Vision 5 has to be the most flawed piece of software I have ever seen released.....somebody needs sacking.

Regards.....John Kelly

Vision 5 Export ETA runs backwards

Hello fellow sufferers

Don't Panic should be the title for Nero Vision 5 Help files I think....especially when exporting a video...it seems that Nero has a confused view of whats going on...in particular if you export to a Nero Digital format......I sat here watcjing the screen hoping after the dismal output when using AVI or DV-AVI that things might improve if I used their own codecs.....The Jury is still out on that...but as I watched the ETA which was clearly running down to zero at a disproportionately high speed................

IT SUDDENLY STOPPED

and now its running backwards even faster !!!!

Be carefull fellow sufferers not to sound off about these things, the MVP's who are not obliged to help you and who spend a lot of time patting one another on the back will have your comments deleted ....not that it will make any difference, theres not much help to be had in here anyway.

Best Wishes to my fellow sufferers,

Nero Vision 5 Fails to Preserve Aspect Ratio

Hello,

Well I seem to have discovered a whole bunch of failures in this program yet again.....

If when using a high quality 12Mb/s 16:9 video you use the export option to create a.....

1) AVI 50% of the options are greyed out and inaccesible no matter what codec you choose, AND, exporting a 16:9 video results in a very squashed 4:3 video...wholly unusable

2) DV-AVI (type 1 or 2), gives you the option of selecting the output ratio and then cheerfully carries on and ignores it producing another....yep you guessed it a squashed up 4:3 video

I have not tried the other options, yet

I tried converting the file because Vision 5 refuses to compile it to a DVD...even though all transitions were removed.....tried compiling the project (exact same setup in all respects) in Vision 4 and it works OK, so it is not the source file

I could fix the ratio problem easily with free software but why should I...a certain amount of quality is lost when this happens...I did not pay good money for that !!!

Will the representatives of Nero, those MVP's sort this out ?

Regards.....John

Removed it from all three of my machines I Want A Refund

Hello,

Well it rather looks as though I have wasted around £40 of my hard earned cash upgrading to Nero 8.

I have removed it from all three of my machines, no small task, and put Nero 7 back on.

I have removed it not because of any problems that may or may not exist with its disk burning abilities.....I can not get far enough through the process with 8 to make a disk.

I have asked polite questions in my emails I have supplied all possible information to them. I have even shown an amazing amount of patience whilst waiting for any kind of answer that might in some way move me forward....

NOTHING, as in NADA, ZILCH, SILENCE !!!!

Oh yes I had an email from them, eventually...it asked me how I had created my project. As there are no user definable functions, nothing the user can do to change the way their program works, this has to be the most stupid question ever.....stay calm though, perhaps too calm I think, answer their question, even send them the complete project file..

NOTHING, as in NADA, ZILCH, SILENCE !!!!

Of course, if I was business wanting to talk about multiple licences or bundling their software I would get immediate replies, perhaps even a Rep or an invite to Lunch.....

Whilst waiting I have a need to convert a 16:9 MPG file into DV-AVI....there are many ways you can do this but why bother seeking out an alternative....you have paid good money for Nero 8, But you find that instead of getting a 16:9 file you get something that is somewhere between a 16:9 and a 4:3.....and even on a Dual Core very very fast machine it still takes quite a while to convert 16GBytes of MPG data into a HUGE DV-AVI...as it turns out wasted time.

I think its time to ask for a refund. From the number of people complaining it is clear that the Nero 8 software is not fit for purpose !!!

More faults in Nero

Wel, It did not take long to discover another one. Nero Vision 5 does a nice little screw up if you export your 16:9 widescreen video to DV-AVI It ends up being neither 16:9 or 4:3 !!!! Tried it twice, same result...In the end I used a flash converter. You can see the result and why I wanted to make this video available on my website. Check out the direct link...

http://www.the-kellys.co.uk/media/John/other/stupiddevon/StupidDevon.html

The failed video ended up having the right height as far as I can tell (576pixels) but a width of perhaps 900 (on the screen) So I went and looked for an update.......see my other blog about what they have done with the most recent update to Nero 8 Getting very tired of Nero and their policies and priorities Best Wishes.....John www.the-kellys.co.uk

Are you people kiding ?

You made an interim update which confuses the heck out of the version numbers just so that you caould add a totally irelevant piece of software to go alongside that other irelevance "The ASK" toolbar

Do you think your efforts might have been better devoted to answering support emails and fixing the bugs in the software first ???

Come on Nero get your act together PLEASE

Fabulous Video Editing for Free

Hello,

This is a bit cheeky because I am going to unnecessarily direct you to my website !!

If you go to http://the-kellys.co.uk/download/mm.html you will see a flash video. I downloaded the original from the link you will find underneath it. The original was something like 800 x 600. I resampled it and converted it to flash so that I could use it as an advert.

Whats very special is that the people in the video are also the people that wrote the video editing software that was used to create the video itself..

All a bit confusing ??? Go take a look and go to their website and get the latest version of the editing program. Its free. It has many very high end features making it mind blowing. The video, which you should watch all the way to the end demonstrates most of those features. The video is great and the software it demonstrates is WOW !

Upside Down Menus

When I first saw the new menus I was quite pleased that Nero had finally got around to providing a means to edit them. Although I have to say that the features are suspiciously like those in Dazzle DVD Complete.

But, they all compile upside down...they do this on my very fast machine they do it (just) on my old P4 and they do it on a machine I have just pout together and installed XP on...no other software other than all of the latest updates from Microsoft.....

So I fill in the form and ask a support question

Still waiting .....

Still Waiting ..........

Still Waiting ....................
