The New Generation of Media Players

If you haven't seen already, Apple is getting ready to release their newest iPod, the iPod Touch. Similar to an iPhone, it is basically the iPhone without the phone capability. It uses a touch screen for controls and the newest feature is Wi-Fi Browsing. iPods boast many Apple creations, such as iTunes and Safari Web Browser. This new iPod sounds pretty nice.

I'm now going to introduce to you the newest Zen. Simply named as the Creative Zen, Creative has taken a new approach to this player in my point of view. The first thing that interested me was that this new Zen "smaller than your average credit card", "11.3mm thickness", and "65g". This new Zen has the features of the Zen Vision M. The thing that interested me most was that this Zen had an expandable memory slot. :)

FINAL

All I'm going to say is that I would go for the iPod if you want a big touch screen, WiFi browsing ability and something that looks like an iPhone, go for the Apple.

If you want a small, convenient player with a nice but smaller screen, the ability to expand your memory, and a beautiful interface, go for the Zen :)

PS

Im a Zen Vison M User :D

Review - Zen Vision W

In one word - Sweet!! I have to say I'm pretty impressed with it. I'm so glad I picked this over the iPod or Zune. God only knows what I was thinking even to consider getting a Zune - the Zen has none of that proprietary crap these 2 do.

It's a bit bigger than both but for someone who wants to also watch videos the size of the screen is the size of the iPod. The controls only take up a small part unlike the iPod. Still it's the size of my hand and I have small hands.

Now would I take this jogging - probably not - but I can still use my little sansa mp3 player.

Pro's of the Zen W

plays several video formats like avi. wmv, mpeg 4, mpeg 2

supports PAL and NTSC

very easy to add files - if it's a supported format no conversion necessary. If it's not than Zen Media Explorer will bring up a conversion app to convert it and transfer it.

headphones/earphones not needed - audio is pretty clear/loud without them

comes with a/v cable to hook up to the TV. Pretty nice. Even the PAL video I put on it I was able to play on the TV.

video is clear - great picture

mp3's sound is great

has a set up for removable storage so you can use it for backup of important files no matter what the format is

though it's a multimedia player any files you put on there stay in their original format so it's like another back up. Just right clicking and copy/paste will transfer the files back to the pc or another one.

user interface on both the Zen media explorer and the player itself is very user friendly

There's probably more pro's but these come to mind right off plus I've only had it a few days :)

Con's of Zen W

themes are pretty lacking - only six to pick from but you can use any of your pictures you transfer to it as the wallpaper

The conversion software is slower than molasses for video. I'm playing w/ Nero to try and figure out a better way for the ones it doesn't support.

The Zen Vision W 30 gig retails at $299.99 but you can find it for less then that. Best Buy had an online special last week of $50 off so I paid the same as I would have for the 30 gig iPod or Zune - $249.99.

For those looking for a portable video & mp3 player i would highly recommend the Zen.

For more info on it check out this link

Decision made - Zen Vision W

I finally made my decision on what mp3 and video player to get. Bought the Zen Vision W from best Buy this weekend.
Here's the one I got - link.
The determining factor? Well I checked online and lo and behold Best Buy had the Zen on sale for $50 off last week so that made my decision :) Only a few bucks of my own $ after I used my gift cards

The catch was it was only available online - no biggie I can wait a few days to get it.

Archos did have another one that was pretty sweet one too - had Wi-Fi and a touch screen but it was 2x as much which meant more out of my little cheap pockets :) Archos 604 Wi-Fi model

Now to get the Zen and load it with music and movies!

CSS Zen Garden: The Beauty in CSS Design

Hi Web developers.

It's me again :)

Maybe you already know the "CSS Zen Garden". If not, it is a website whose base markup is built so flexible that changing css-style and images allows to change the look of the site completely. (Which is not really usual even in nower days)

Regardless of if you already have seen this page or not, the following CSS Style + Design is a sneak worth:

http://csszengarden.com/?cssfile=http://adjustafresh.com/zen/mozattack.css

This has impressed me a lot also because of the great idea.

I was inspired to search for the site because colleagues of mine lent me a book that covers building such flexible html designs.

In my opinion it's an interesting topic for every web developer.

<Greets>Timo</Greets>

PS: Thanks to the new My Nero crash recovery function which right now saved my a**. :)
